FEW people have as much derby day experience as Sammy Lee. As a Liverpool fan, player and coach Lee has seen it all - the highs, the lows; the joy, the despair - and now he is in a position to pass on his knowledge to the latest generation of Anfield stars charged with securing victory over Everton.
"It's great to be in this position because one of the things you always try to do as a coach is to pass on your own experience to the players," said the Reds assistant manager.
"I've been involved in a lot of derbies over the years so hopefully the little bits of knowledge I've picked up from them will be useful to the lads as we prepare for Sunday's game.
"But to be fair, the players we've got at Liverpool know what it's all about because they have been involved in so many big games over the years so all I'm doing is adding a little bit to what they already know."
There is no question that Lee would settle for a repeat of his favourite derby moments when Liverpool meet Everton in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Anfield tomorrow. Read more...
