Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez admits he has held talks with senior Reds players to quell fears about the club's future. The very fact that he felt it necessary to hold talks with senior stars will raise fears that there is unrest in the camp, due either to the constant uncertainty over Benitez's own future or the ongoing takeover of the club.
Whatever the reason Benitez has felt it necessary to speak to two highly regarded players, with most observers presuming that is Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, many will see it as another unnecessary distraction when the side should be concentrating all their efforts on staying in the title race.
Benitez revealed: "I have been talking with two very important players recently. I made it very clear that we must focus only on games. We must try to be very professional and concentrate on that."
