Emiliano Insua’s impressive progress in the Liverpool first team has been interrupted by the news that he will spend the next month on international duty.
The left back has been called up by Argentina for the Under-20 South American Championships which take place in Venezuela.
As a result, Insua will be absent for Premier League games against Stoke, Everton and Chelsea, as well as The Reds’ FA Cup tie against their Merseyside neighbours.
The news is a setback for Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez who has seen the 19-year-old start the club’s past four Premier League games and perform impressively.
Insua has even edged out summer signing Andrea Dossena but, thankfully for Benitez, Fabio Aurelio made his return from injury in Saturday’s FA Cup victory over Preston.
