Liverpool FC star Fernando Torres reveals desperation to play his part in push for honours

FERNANDO TORRES has revealed his desperation to play a part in Liverpool's three-way assault for honours in 2009.

The Spaniard kicked off the new year by marking his return to the side with the clinching goal in Saturday's 2-0 FA Cup third round victory at Preston North End.

He was only on the field for 15 minutes as he came on as a substitute following almost six weeks out with a hamstring injury and scored his first goal for three months.

But while Liverpool have made progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League and extended their lead at the top of the Premier league to three points, Torres has spent a frustrating spell on the sidelines.

Last season's 33-goal top scorer has only played 17 times this season due to his recurring hamstring problems and he hasn't even scored at Anfield yet. read more here
