The first of two Merseyside derbies takes place this Monday evening and I can only see two victories for my old club Liverpool. These matches can be frenetic and volatile but on the pitch the Reds have undoubtedly had the upper hand.The simple fact of the matter is Liverpool are better than Everton and if they play as they have been in terms of confidence, then they should win. Don’t get me wrong any team can beat another, just look at Derby’s Carling Cup win over United a few weeks back but I cannot see Liverpool not being fully up for these games.
A lot has been made of Everton missing Marouane Fellaini which will be a blow to David Moyes’ team but they’ve got a good squad of players and I personally feel they’d miss someone like Mikel Arteta a whole lot more as he gives them something different and is a superb creative player. The Toffees have plenty of spirit, are well organized and full of confidence themselves but it’s not very often they come to Anfield and get a result and they aren’t likely to either in the upcoming derbies.
