Alvaro Arbeloa reckons Liverpool's next generation of youngsters have increased the levels of competition in the Reds' squad. The Spanish international believes that having a talented group of young players reduces the need for big money signings during the transfer window.Emiliano Insua and Damien Plessis have impressed this season and Arbeloa believes they can go one step further and stake a claim for a regular starting place.
He told LFC Magazine: "You cannot buy players every transfer window. You must bring some of your own players through from within to maintain a healthy balance.
"The development of Stephen Darby, Plessis and Insua is crucially important for us. They are improving and they are getting their chances in the first team.
"We have got some very good young players and it would not surprise me if they began to force their way into the squads in the next year or so."
