Liverpool legend Ronnie Whelan has urged Rafa Benitez's table-topping team not to get carried away by their title dream because Manchester United are still favourites to retain their championship trophy.
Anfield is buzzing with the thought of winning the title and ending 19 years in the wilderness as Liverpool celebrate New Year by going into the second half of the campaign with a three point lead over second placed Chelsea.
But Whelan, a member of the 1990 side crowned English champions for a record 18th time, warns that, despite their cushion at the top and the quality at Benitez’s disposal, Old Trafford’s iron grip will be difficult to break.
