Carlo Ancelotti to Chelsea

According to The Sun, the Italian has told Chelsea he is ready to take over from Guus Hiddink in the summer. A contract worth around £5.8m a year has been discussed, and should be signed and sealed in June. His daughter Katya has been spending time at Chelsea HQ working on her PhD, which compares the media and marketing relations between Chelsea and Milan. Ancelotti, who has already said “I won’t manage Milan forever”, has quipped that she was “getting his office ready” while in England.

Hiddink: Anfield will be like a hurricane

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink is excited about this week's Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool.

"I look at the upcoming games this month and I'm excited," he said. "I won the European Cup in 1988 with PSV as a young manager, but it would be a dream fulfilled to win it again near the end of my career with Chelsea.

"Everyone knows that going to Anfield is like a hurricane. The atmosphere doesn't worry me, it excites me."

Hiddink hails Stevie G as special one

Among the Champions' League quarter-finalists there can be no such thing as a one-man team. Yet to hear the levels of respect for Steven Gerrard emanating from Chelsea in the last few days was to wonder whether Guus Hiddink might need to start talking him down rather than up.

In his capacity as manager of Russia, Hiddink himself is already on record as having voted for Liverpool's captain as the world's best player. "My focus was that Gerrard was a team player and on top of that he's very determined and decisive in what he's doing," he explained on Friday.
