Football Lookalike XI

Some people literally spend their entire lives staring thoughtfully at pictures of Phil Neville or Wayne Rooney, pondering which particular screen monster they should lump them alongside this time. It’s a great way of becoming a popular face in football circles - a finely judged facial observation about Michael Ballack can diffuse fights in pubs, start chit chat that eventually leads to sex with hairdressers, or simply make your mates laugh until they vomit Becks Vier all over the pavement. With that in mind, we thought we’d compile our own well-observed team of football lookalikes… sick bags ready, people.

Centre Midfield, Frank Lampard

Never anything less than well turned out, Lampsie totters around a football pitch like a poodle walking into an exclusive dogs-only drinks party.

Centre Forward, Carlos Tevez

Up front, Tevez just nudges out his team mate Wayne Rooney, thanks to his startling resemblance to the handsome young actor who plays Ugly Betty in the sitcom Ugly Betty.

Lampard: Chelsea is confident and strong

Frank Lampard believes Chelsea are clicking into top gear ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Liverpool at Anfield. The Blues won their third Premier League away game on the trot on Saturday when they beat Newcastle 2-0 at St James' Park. And although Lampard knows it will not be easy against Liverpool in European competition, he is confident the Chelsea squad will be prepared for the task. "Against Newcastle it was a confident display," he explained. "We had a few players injured at the weekend and hopefully they can be fit for midweek, but our squad is pretty strong at the minute. "We know how tough Liverpool is going to be - it is going to be a very tight game, both legs, and we are ready. We are in the right mood for it."

Frank Lampard's ex-model fiancée blows the final whistle on their eight-year relationship

England football star Frank Lampard's has separated from his Spanish fiancée after an eight-year relationship, it has been revealed.

The Chelsea player has bought ex-model Elen a house close to their £3million South West London home so he can remain in regular contact with two-year-old Luna and one-year-old Isla.

30-year-old Elen Rives, who met Lampard in a bar in 2001, decided to call time after taking a holiday alone with the children in Florida in January.

Lampard has previously been accused of cheating on his fiancée, with their engagement called off in 2004 after a tabloid caught the player in a romantic tryst in Las Vegas.

No-one else is said to be involved in the split.

A close friend of the couple told the News of the World: 'It's the saddest thing Elen's ever had to do, but the love has gone.

The couple were last seen together in London restaurant Zuma in January, and in December the family visited a Winter Wonderland attraction in Hyde Park.

The couple also have a £4million home in Surrey.
