A new Formula One team from the United States want a woman to be their star driver.
USF1, based in Charlotte, are to announce next Tuesday they will be on the starting grid for the 2010 season.
They will have a £50million budget, 100 staff and hope to have IndyCar driver Danica Patrick behind the wheel.
The 26-year-old from Wisconsin has just appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition for the second year in a row but USF1's interest in her as a driver is not merely a commercial ploy. She has proved her value in IndyCar after winning a race and finishing sixth in the standings last season.
