Liverpool FC centre-back Martin Skrtel has been named Slovakian Player of the Year for the second year in succession.
The 24-year-old finished ahead of SSC Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik and VfL Bochum 1848 forward Stanislav Sestak in a poll conducted by Slovakian newspaper Pravda. "Having been injured for three months last year, I have to be satisfied to have won this prize again – it's a nice feeling," said Skrtel, alluding to the right knee injury he sustained during a Premier League match against Manchester City FC on 5 October.
