Gerrard and Kuyt agree new Liverpool contracts

Steven Gerrard has agreed a two-year extension to his current contract at Liverpool. The club captain, who had two years to run on his deal, will now stay at Anfield until at least 2013.

Dirk Kuyt has also agreed a two-year contract extension today, following Rafael Benitez, the manager, and key members of his backroom team in committing his future to the club.

"To have announced new deals for Steven and Dirk on the same day shows how hard everyone is working and that we are moving forward quickly as a club. These are very positive messages and I am very happy."

Benitez revealed that Gerrard was keen to stay at the club for the rest of his career.
