Rihanna marries Chris Brown?

Rihanna and Chris Brown have secretly married. Chris - who was arrested after allegedly attacking Rihanna last month - is believed to have proposed to the "Umbrella" singer during their emotional reunion at P. Diddy's Miami mansion last weekend. A source said they had a tearful face-to-face meeting at Diddy's, during which an emotional Chris apologised, begged for forgiveness and proposed to her on the spot. "She was totally up front and confessed to him, 'I can't live without you.' "

After Rihanna accepted the 19-year-old star's proposal, the couple asked a minister to marry them at Diddy's $14.5 million mansion on the exclusive Star Island. Earlier this week, it was revealed Rihanna's family were concerned about her reconciliation with Chris.

However, the 21-year-old beauty has seemingly ignored her loved ones' advice and is already planning a family with the 'Run It' singer. The America's Star magazine reported that all she ever wanted was to be with him forever. Rihanna is looking for the husband-and-two-kids deal before she turns 25. She believes in fairy tales, and she wants to live hers with Chris." The couple are still hiding out together in Miami. Chris' arraignment is set to take place in Los Angeles on Thursday. He is alleged to have beaten and choked Rihanna until she was unconscious after the pair got into an argument in his rented silver Lamborghini car on Feb. 8.

R&B star Rihanna has cancelled a concert in Jakarta due to be held on Thursday, show organisers have said.Tour promoter Showmaster said the singer pulled out "because of an assault case involving Rihanna's boyfriend" - the singer Chris Brown. The 20-year-old pulled a performance at the Grammys and another show in Malaysia on Tuesday.

Slumdog Millionaire race row protest, India cinema ransacked

HUNDREDS of protesters outraged at the use of the word dog in the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' have ransacked a cinema claiming it is a violation of human rights.

HUNDREDS of protesters outraged at the use of the word dog in the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' have ransacked a cinema claiming it is a violation of human rights.

Armed police were forced to guard cinemas in eastern India today after slum dwellers ransacked a picture house showing Slumdog Millionaire because they didn't like the use of the word "dog" in the title.

Several hundred people rampaged through the cinema in Patna, capital of the eastern state of Bihar, on Monday and tore down posters advertising the film.

They said the title was humiliating and vowed to continue their protests until it was changed, reports The Times online.

The protest was organised by Tateshwar Vishwakarma, a social activist who filed a lawsuit over the title last week against four Indians involved in its production - a lead actor, the music director and two others.

"Referring to people living in slums as dogs is a violation of human rights," said Mr Vishwakarma, who works for a group promoting the rights of slum dwellers. We will burn Danny Boyle (the film's British director) effigies in 56 slums here."

Kate Perry honoured with award by mistake

Pop sensation Kate Perry was presented with the international song of the year award for "I Kissed A Girl" at a French music award show, but it turned out to be a mistake.

The host of the NRJ Music Awards which took place in Cannes, announced at the end of the show on Saturday that there had been a mistake in vote-counting and that Perry was not the winner.

Awards were handed out based on results of audience votes on NRJ’s website in the weeks leading up to the awards ceremony and finalised votes revealed that Rihanna had won instead for her hit song "Disturbia".

"We are terribly sorry, but we made a mistake. It wasn't Katy Perry who was supposed to pick up the Best International Song, but Rihanna with 'Disturbia'. We hope Rihanna and Katy Perry won't be too upset and we apologise for all the fans who voted for them. The wrong name was put in the envelope, said host Nikos Alliagas.

"We're really terribly sorry. Katy Perry will have to give her (award) to Rihanna."

It must have been a great disappointment for the American singer as this was her first award. But Perry finally got her 'first award' when she won the best international album prize for "One Of The Boys" later that night.

In other categories, the international female artiste of the year went to Britney Spears while Enrique Iglesias was named top international male artiste. The Pussycat Dolls were crowned best international group. .

‘Idol’ returns with the good, the bad, the bikini

The flat notes, the sweet surprises, the pleas of the rejected are all intact as “American Idol” returns for its eighth season of first-class karaoke.

A new twist is the bikini-clad contestant who splits the judges straight down the gender line in the debut episode.

Fox previewed the show on Monday night for TV critics who simply couldn’t wait 24 hours to see it air. The rest of America can judge for itself from 8-10pm yesterday.

The episode opens with auditions taped in Phoenix and features newcomer Kara DioGuardi, who joins Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson on the judging panel.

DioGuardi immediately distinguished herself by throwing down with the willowy woman in the very orange, very small bikini. DioGuardi, a songwriter-producer who also knows how to belt a tune, sang a few bars to show the contestant how it should have been done.

“Honestly, you don’t have the chops to sing that song, sweetie,” DioGuardi told her.

“But your demonstration wasn’t any better,” the woman snapped back.

Not diplomatic, Abdul cautioned, jumping into the fray.

But the male judges were definitely impressed.

“Beautiful,” Cowell pronounced after hearing just a few bars.

From Jackson: “I think you have a have a lot of potential. I’m going to say yes.”

That bikini is going to Hollywood and the next round of auditions.

Not so lucky was the extremely nervous man who was sweating as if he knew the executioner’s axe hovered.

“You look like you’re in pain or something,” Cowell told him.

The British music producer was his usual amusing, acidic self. Jackson appeared loose and eager for another season, chair-dancing to the rhythm of more than one bad singer.

Definitely no, Jackson told one contestant, then added gleefully, “Man, that was wild!”

A pink cowboy-hatted teenager pleaded for another shot.

“Please, I’m shaking in my boots here,” she pleaded, charmingly.

Boots, it turns out, are not as persuasive as a bathing suit. AP

Celebrity; Best and Worst of 2008

Best Hit-Maker: Rihanna

We're starting to think Rihanna can do no wrong. It seems like every song the Barbados-born babe releases burns up the charts. This year alone, Rihanna has blown our minds with smash hits like "Take A Bow" and "Disturbia," not to mention her sexy collaborations with T.I., Maroon 5 and Ne-Yo. A red-hot career, a gorgeous face and a cutie boyfriend in fellow chart-topper Chris Brown make this little lady a force to be reckoned with.

Worst Celeb Family: The Hogans

It's been a rough year for the Hogan Family. Son Nick Hogan spent a good portion of the last 12 months in jail for reckless driving, while Hulk and Linda's marriage began to fall apart. When rumors hit of the wrestler's affair with one of daughter Brooke's best friends, Linda took up with a 19-year-old surfer, and Brooke managed to fly under the radar. But, really, with a family this screwed up, the bad luck is all relative.

Best Baby Mama: Amy Poehler

You have to hand it to Amy Poehler. While most women are so done with being pregnant by their seventh month, this SNL funny lady didn't let a little thing like being days from giving birth stop her from rapping with Sarah Palin and dancing with her big baby belly. Amy not only kept her own sense of humor up, but managed to have us all still rolling in the aisles leading up to the birth of baby Archie in October.

Worst Celeb Boyfriend: Raffaello Follieri

Hollywood good girl Anne Hathaway had it all—graceful looks, a solid career and a devoted Italian businessman boyfriend. The looks and the career remain, but after four-and-a-half years together, Anne's seemingly nice guy, Raffaello Follieri, was unveiled as a shady businessman who was arrested—then sentenced to over four years in prison—for fraud and money laundering. Fortunately for Anne, she got out before the real dirtiness went down, but that doesn't mean her heart wasn't broken.

Worst Blabbermouth: Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson never seems to learn her lesson. After her very public breakups from Nick Lachey and John Mayer, you would think the gone-country singer would want to keep her relationships on the down low. But Jessica has been gushing more than ever about how current boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo has "saved her." We're not saying we're not happy for her—we just don't want to hear about it anymore.

Best Olympian: Michael Phelps

Americans everywhere were thrilled to celebrate Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, who won a record-breaking 8 out of 8 gold medals at this year's summer games in Beijing. The 23-year-old Maryland native—and one of Barbara Walters' most fascinating people of 2008—captured our hearts and fueled our spirit as he swam his way into the history books.

Best Comeback: Britney Spears

At the end of 2007, Britney Spears was a plain old mess—she lost custody of her kids, was getting into one driving fiasco after another, was keeping some very questionable company (yes, Adnan Ghalib, we mean you!) and had—literally —lost all control over her life. Just one year later, Brit is back and is just about ready to take over the world again. With regular visits with her boys, a brand new album, a slew of new awards on her mantle and the fab body we remember her for, Britney is poised to take back rightful ownership of the pop charts. Welcome back, Brit!

Best Turnaround: Nicole Richie

What a turnaround The Simple Life's Nicole Richie has made. Just two years ago, Nic was serving time for a DUI that had her driving the wrong way down a one-way street. Fast forward to 2008, and Paris Hilton's BFF has straightened out big time. With Good Charlotte's Joel Madden by her side, Nicole became mommy to a baby girl, Harlow, in January, and has since become a new woman.
