Real Madrid Lead battle for £25M Tevez

MANCHESTER United have sparked a £25m bidding war for Carlos Tevez after failing to take up their first option on the striker. The Premier League champions had a chance to negotiate exclusively with the Argentine forward’s advisers up until the end of the January transfer window to sort out a permanent deal. But that passed without any deal being finalised, and now Tevez and his team are free to negotiate with any other potential suitors.

Real Madrid will be at the front of the queue for the 24-year-old who will command a minimum £25m fee for his owners, Media Sports Investments (MSI).

They have a deal in place with United that the club need to pay £27m for the striker when his loan deal from MSI ends in June.

But the price is too high for United, which is why they have dragged their heels over completing a deal.
