Chelsea skipper Terry: Plenty of needle in Liverpool clash

Chelsea captain John Terry admits there's great rivalry with today's opponents Liverpool.

"Obviously the rivalry wasn't there a few years ago because Chelsea weren't up there competing with them. Now they realise when we won the league we are a massive threat and that's where the rivalry has come from," he told chelseafc.com. "There have been big games, Champions League, Carling Cup Finals, and they give it more of a needle."

Asked whether either side has a psychological edge from recent meetings, either Liverpool's win at Stamford Bridge in October, or our Champions League semi-final success in May, Terry's response was diplomatic.

"I don't think so, I won't be thinking of that and I don't think they will. We're thinking of the season ahead and if we can win we can pull three points away from Liverpool we can put pressure on Man United who are sitting there, and they have a tough game against Everton.

"United will be hoping it's a draw, but if we win we go ahead of Liverpool with a better goal difference, and put pressure on United again, kick-starting an interesting end of the season."
